THE PORTUGUESE WELCOMING

Peace and tranquility within a natural environment

Our History

25 years ago, the Portuguese Way of St. James was already there, although without the structure that we have today. At that time, pilgrims who arrived at the Rubiães stage could not find a place to sleep or even to eat. The Castro Family, who had their house placed within the Camino, decided to accommodate the pilgrims and share their own food with them. As the number of pilgrims walking the Portuguese Way kept growing, the family increased the house’s conditions to accommodate a larger number of people. Making use of the familiy’s experience in the hotel business – husband and wife worked at a 5 stars hotel in Germany during the 70’s – the Repouso do Peregrino was founded to be a place of tranquility and refreshment for all people in their personal or spiritual pursuit.

Our Rooms

Repouso do Peregrino offers the Portuguese welcoming spirit through a calm and peaceful stay among double, triples and twin rooms; all of them are equipped with private bathrooms and breakfast is always included in the rate. The external environment, embellished with the Alto Minho’s natural wonders, is the perfect scenario for a recharging experience.

Paredes de Coura

Paredes de Coura is well placed within the Alto Minho’s historic and natural environment, also know as ‘Portugal’s Garden’. Between the Peneda-Gerês National Park and the Atlantic Coast, it’s also close to the charmful villages of Valença do Minho, Ponte de Lima, Viana do Castelo and Braga.
